How many Lumens for hiking at night in the woods ?

Been gone a long, long time and just looked in tonight. Since there's been a lot of improvements and advances in LED's, drop-in's and lights --- I don't know how my choice will hold. I have almost every Malkoff drop-in available but the one I always carry is the Malkoff M61LL in his MD2 with...

    Strange Surefire Battery Problem

I go for Surefire since they're a hop-skip-and a jump away from me but even if they weren't - I probably would still buy them. Duracells, maybe if the cost plus shipping was way less but like ampdude - I like all my batteries to be the same. I still think about the difference in voltages...

    Strange Surefire Battery Problem

Yes, these were all Surefire batteries. I have a bit of OCD or paranoia if you listen to my family so I always go for the Surefire brand and not any other though they might just be as good and even cheaper. Since I also live 25 minutes away from their store, I just drop in and pick them up...

    Strange Surefire Battery Problem

So walking my dog last night, my 6P/Malkoff M61 went dim all of a sudden. It might have been the batteries but they were both new when put in as a pair with less than 25 minutes of run-time total. Turned off the 6P for a few seconds then on again. Bright beam then back to dim. Since I do...

    Elzetta High/Low Switch

The Malkoff ring is fine in use except for the fact that it loosens up which is why I thought about the Elzetta switch. I've thought about really tightening down on the ring but I'm afraid of doing some damage somewhere to something. I'm a great believer in Murphy's Law and if something is...

    Elzetta High/Low Switch

Just received word form Elzetta and they said that it is 6P compatible. The price for the switch is roughly $55.00 and I would have to give serious thoughts before getting this. Is the cost worth the ease of operation? To me, maybe? According to jellydonut (thank you) it is not an exact...

    Elzetta High/Low Switch

Has anyone tried the Elzetta high/low switch in a Surefire 6P? If so, how would you rate it? Having a switch in a 6P seems easier to access than say, the high/low ring in a MD2.

What light feels perfect in your hand?

Guess I can say my hands are small but I love the feel of 6P's (even better with the A19 extender) and Malkoff's MD2. When I hold a light, I want to HOLD a light and not something that might escape my grip. Guess this same idea carries over to my numerous 1911's.

    Malkoff for my Surefire C3

Just my own opinions and usages. My MD2 runs a M61 with a high/low ring good for outstanding brightness and flood for up to medium distances plus low lumens for other times. One of my 6P's with A19 extender (makes it a C3) goes with an M60 for when I need throw. Nice thing about the...

    Malkoff M31

timbo114 Received my L2r 2 days ago, body was done nicely but I was hoping that it would have been a bit shorter but the knurling was ok. Glad I ordered the flat bezel since bezel crenelations is something I would never carry (I perfer flat bezels). Switch was kinda flakey at first. First...

    Malkoff M31

The M31 in the VME/ 2AA twisty body makes a fairly compact light but I've decided it's not for me. I'm going to drop it into a something like the Solarforce L2m, Solarforce L2r or something along the line of a E1e with a P60 compatible bezel.

Just recieved Surefire E1B backup, mixed thoughts on Quality Control

I live 15 minutes away from Surefire in Fountain Valley and if I had an issue with one of their lights not working, I'll just drop on over but I haven't had that problem yet. Kind of nice to be able to pick and choose over their lights but I just go for the batteries and drool over new...

    Malkoff M31

The M31 will fit in a P bezel no sweat since it's just like any Malkoff P60 type drop-in. I dropped it into my 6P as soon as it arrive in the mail just to try. 6P is a bit long for a single 123 battery configuration but I just had to. It's also a good thing that I remembered to use a 123...

Just recieved Surefire E1B backup, mixed thoughts on Quality Control

If it doesn't affect the usage of the light in anyway, then keep it. It's meant to be used and sooner or later it's going to get banged up. You keep being obsessed over it, it's going to drive you crazy. If it bugs you no end, then send it back for a replacement.

Malkoff MD2 shroud and clip question

I also have the shrould and clip on my MD2 and I love it. I previously had the light in a Ripoff's holster and while it was OK, I find that clipping the light to the inside of my pants made it more accessible for me. Holster rode too high and whipping out the light was hard on my arthritic...
