Re: AE Light AEX25 25 watt HID "Handheld Searchlight" [ Hopefully it's okay to bump this thread now that my supporter subscription is lapsed. My reading of the terms is that is it okay, but if it's not, mods feel free to edit/delete. ] Another month past and I'm still looking at this light...

Sold/Expired AE Light AEX25 25 watt HID "Handheld Searchlight" PRICE DROP 3/6/2021

Re: AE Light AEX25 25 watt HID "Handheld Searchlight" Thanks for the feedback. I'm seeing now that HIDs in this wattage/brightness category are outclassed by LED lights in most measures these days. At least the HID lights don't have the "turbo" situation I see a lot of folks grousing...

Sold/Expired AE Light AEX25 25 watt HID "Handheld Searchlight" PRICE DROP 3/6/2021

Re: AE Light AEX25 25 watt HID "Handheld Searchlight" Hi again! I'm not getting any action on this offering and I'm not sure why. Is it that HID is old news/old tech? I had hoped that there would still be some HID enthusiasts or collectors who would be interested in this light. Concern about...

Re: AE Light AEX25 25 watt HID "Handheld Searchlight" Just popping in to add a totally non-scientific, just-for-fun rainy beamshot I took when I got the light out, charged it up, and tested it out.

Modern heir to the Streamlight ProPolymer 4AA LED?

Hi all, I've been away from the forum for a while and am not up to date on the new lights and technology. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction though. I'm looking for a light to give my girlfriend to walk her dog in the early morning and evenings (it will be fully dark for...

    Help with 3C/4C Mag85?

kman, Yes, the reflector and lens are the same and interchangeable between the "D" and "C" Mags. The bezel (the part that holds the lens and screws to the head) is also the same. The head itself is not the same, having a different shape to fit the different diameters of the "D" and "C" bodies...

    Where to get #3854 bulb?

Lighthound should also have both the bulbs and your choice of UCL or Borofloat lenses. http://www.lighthound.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1070 Also, note the CPF special listed on this page. http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?t=56067 -Rick

Mag 2c Hotwire w/ AW li-ion C cells (best LUMENS and RUNTIME)

I think if you are willing to go with a less "challenging" (for the cells) bulb than the 5761, you are fine sticking with the AW "C" cells. Has your host been converted to bipin, or does it still have the PR base socket? If you still have the PR socket, you could go with the trusty old ROP. I...

    64458 bulb advice

Well, according to LuxLuthor's testing, at 19.2 volts, the 64458 will draw between 10.1 and 10.3 amps. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showpost.php?p=2218688 The load graph at CheapBatteryPacks shows that, with a 10 amp draw, the Elite 1700 AAs will hold over 1.2 volts for over half their...

    64458 bulb advice

I have thought about building a 64458-based light for a while. How about a quad-bored 4D mag, with a 16-cell Elite 1700 battery pack (if LuxLuthor will make one)? That gives a nominal 19.2 volts. If it really is necessary to push it further, you could add the 17th cell like Lux does for the 15.6...

    Mag85 problem

Do you have a multimeter? These lights are pretty simple circuits (excepting the AWR hotdriver), but there's several spots that can cause "open circuit," and it's a lot easier to track down if you can check actual voltages and continuity/resistance. -Rick

has any insane MagaMod 36V 400w

Basically, it's just machining three channels down the inside of the body tube to make room for a stack of three batteries side by side. See this sales thread for some good pics. 2D, 3D, 4D Tri-Bore, Dual-Bore, Quad-Bore For Sale and MAG Head Finning Available...

    Resistance Fixes to ROP

This is good info. If I'm reading your post right, you did not actually solder the wick to the springs? If so, you could reduce the resistance further by soldering. But, like tebore suggests, it's possible to "over-fix" these, and you may be right around the sweet spot as is. Thanks for doing...

Glass lenses at Kai? Cheapest source for ROP bulbs?

I don't have any experience with the Kai lenses. I'm not sure about "cheapest," but I had good luck with Lighthound when I put together my ROP. Here's the Pelican bulb set: Pelican Big D Rechargeable Lamp Set FL-3854...
