I should have said the bulbs became dim, not the batteries. Also, When I put the flashlight down, I did turn the unit off. The flashlights have never come into contact with any moisture whatsoever. To answer your questions: 1. No, the batteries were not mixed. The unit came as 2 flashlights with the batteries already installed from Sam's Club.
