New driver from RUSH for the 1x123 "E-Series" lights.

Thanks for the encouraging words F89, i certainly do my best to improve on the shortcomings of the current HiveLD. I would be another happy user :)

GoVegan, the Hive drivers are all reverse polarity protected, you don't have to worry about inserting a battery the wrong way. id30209, there is a working prototype of the new driver but i am not happy with the performance yet, so more work is needed on the design.

    Some Haiku Beam shots

Hi Easilyled, the Hive driver used in the E-Series is limited to 1,2A as stated by others above. The driver in the Aqua lights is different and larger in diameter. It allows to go higher in output. A new E-series driver I am prototyping will allow a higher output also, but this is still in early...

New driver from RUSH for the 1x123 "E-Series" lights.

Hi Everybody, I plan to build a first prototype in the next weeks, then i will know if the design works or if changes are necessary. So there is progress and i will give updates once i was able to do tests.

Hi Everybody, I hear your desire to have low levels without noticeable PWM, on my agenda it is one of the top items as well. Currently i am working on a driver revision and will make some changes that should improve the PWM visibility or rather eliminate the need to use PWM at all for the low...

Hi Sebis, Loading presets requires that you enter setup, there is no shortcut. However with some practice, going into setup mode is rather quick and loading a preset only means a couple steps to go through.

The voltage levels that the driver will step down the output at is set through the voltage foldback setting indeed. If you look at the voltage values in the manual, the setting Li-Ion optimal has the highest voltage level that is meant to give you a safe operation using Li-Ion batteries. It...

Currently there are no plans for such a driver i am afraid, even though it would be possible.

You are welcome, and it was just luck that i saw your message just after you posted ;-) To bridge the jumper with graphite you have to really fill the gap with material well, so rub it in with the tip of the pencil. Still it seems to be a bit of hit and miss whether it woks, some pens might be...

Re: New driver from RUSH for the 1x123 "E-Series" lights. Hi Stoneking, correct on all points. The input voltage range of the HIVE runs from 1.8 to 4.4 Volt, so 2 x AA will work, but 2 x primaries or rechargeable will be too high. Once the low voltage detection level is reached...

Hi Greg, thank you for pointing out that the HiveLD can be configured to start on high first! You have full flexibility over the number of output levels and the brightness level of each of them if you have special requirements. Its awesome to hear that you have found your grail, thank you...

The recent posts regarding the "best value" for output reduction setting deliver quite a good picture and i would just like to summarize with my own words. The important fact to consider is that the output reduction voltage given in the manual is based on the voltage measured by the driver...

I want to reply to your question even though it has been a while. The HIVE drivers can receive a firmware update in theory as the programming pins are exposed on the boards. However distributing the firmware is not something i would be willing to do and once mounted in the cans it is difficult...

Thats true CPF spirit here, awesome that you have been figuring it out with the help of one great gentleman ;) A video of the programming process is certainly much more helpful than the written instructions. I was eventually going to make one myself. But if you have made a video that you feel...

The way you are describing the functionality would make most sense indeed, giving you enough time to react to the step down before the light would go off. Obviously it has to be a user setting that is disabled by default since i believe the majority prefers not to have any automatic runtime...
