So wait. What? If you edit the OP the thread gets bumped?

FREEME. MATEMINCO FW2 LEP 18650/18350 Flashlight

Interesting. Why after all we have endured do they insist on strobe? And…my God…so much left on the table…still. It has been over a decade since I started down the LEP route. Maybe one day I will release what I learned. Until then my recent revelation is cleanliness is Godliness. Yeah I know...

    Most Efficient LED 2020?

So so good to see your digital face. I’ve been away a while. Thanks for that post. You taught me something I didn’t know. Now you’ve got me curious.

    Delving into LEP

That was one of my earliest efforts with LEP 10 years ago. I quickly abandoned the idea as I had safety concerns and the phosphor quenching starts way too soon with that method. I’ve seen some are mounting it to sapphire which was my solution too. It’s still too limited. Unless you take certain...

    Delving into LEP

I will check it out. Thanks. I have spent the last couple hours tearing this light down. They sure didn’t make this easy.

    Delving into LEP

Thanks. Years ago I invested in laser glasses of OD 7+. I am very safety conscience. Still these lasers scare me. But I think that is a good thing. ;)

    Delving into LEP

Yeah I may be biased but given the poor beam characteristics of the W4 I’d rather have the DEFT-X with less overall throw and the cleaner colors and wider beam. Hopefully I can fix this. I already have a higher CRI laser light engine. I don’t know yet if I can incorporate it in this platform though.

    Delving into LEP

I don’t know yet. I have a lot of tests to run on this. Will be busting out the thermal camera and getting shots of the phosphor and other areas. Just running a bit I didn’t notice it producing a ton of heat but it did get warm to the touch. That of course could just mean they aren’t getting the...

    Delving into LEP

I just got my first commercial LEP flashlight today. It is the Weltool W4 manufacturer rated at 1782Kcd. I tested it and got a result of 1643Kcd. That’s pretty close to spec. It is an amazing performer intensity wise. I’m not as enamored with how narrow the beam is though. And the beam is very...

Where is Saabluster and What Are You Doing?!!

Thanks everyone. It feels good to be back. Wow. I hadn’t heard he was gone. It will take me a bit to get back in the loop on everything and everyone. There are definitely a lot of new faces around here.

    DEFT-X OMG Strikes Back!!!

I've missed you. You are correct of course. I have lost far more money at this “hobby” than I have ever made. You’re other statement is correct too. I can beat the current crop of LED lights out there. But I couldn’t beat them as badly as I did in my prior products. That doesn’t gel with my soul...

Where is Saabluster and What Are You Doing?!!

And yet one more year removed. No. No new flashlights. Yet. Boy I really picked a bad time to come out of retirement a year ago. Things were trucking along and I was moving on product development. I even bought a sputtering magnetron to bring some of my ideas to life. Doing a lot of LED level...

W30 Vs Maxtoch L2K sward vs Tn42vn W2 led Mod.

Point taken. You have been here long enough to know that I have pretty much always been a little bit secretive. A fact for which I have taken some hits for from some. And I understand why. It seems somewhat selfish to hoard knowledge. Especially when so much of what I have done over the years...

W30 Vs Maxtoch L2K sward vs Tn42vn W2 led Mod.

I have seen their stuff and I stand by my earlier comment. They are either going really easy on the light engine or they didn’t design it “right”. I’m going with the latter. Seriously there is soooo much potential with LEP. The trick with these is figuring out how to keep the phosphor cool. A...
