Steve, good to know someone else is actively making their own lights too!! I was considering getting some XP-Gs in the 3 up style from ledsupply mainly because I love the 4000K range of color too and who knows when the Acriche 2 will be available in the higher color temps.
Let's talk about...
Been awhile since I have been on, but just completed refurbing a 3 light halogen under counter light from Lowes with 3 of the 4 watt Acriche 2 lights. Specifically, since I don't have the exact model number with me, I used the 4 led light version. Mouser only carries the 3000K version (you may...
Some 3 years later, the two flashlights I painted lavender are still as beautiful as they were after I painted them.
I still have to try Mac's trick (yes, time has been more than at a premium lately), but I absolutely have to make another couple of duracoated flashlights.
Bluemarble, my...
I went with MariTool and got just the R-8 holder and three ER-40 collets that I will use virtually all the time.
It was very nicely finished. Interesting because there was NO manufacturing origin printed on the holder. No China, no nothing.....
The other main point I wish to advise anyone...
I second the KPR112 bulb from Radio Shack. I did that to my green, swivel head Ray-O-Vac cheap flashlight (my first "real" mod) and I couldn't stop laughing until the batteries started loosing power.
My second try at the same thing (just for grins) was horrible. Quality control on a $1.28...
As I remember when I was doing runtime testing over a year ago I got between 330 and 350mA with the 350 model and the SHO was spot on at 495 to 503mA....that was testing with 2S AA Eneloops and 2S D sized Ni-Mh 10,000mA cells. I cannot remember nor can I find my old paperwork on the testing...
Yup, saw those when they sent the email out too. Plan on ordering a couple to see how they are.
Did you notice they have discontinued carrying Seoul LED's?
Bob E.
Agreed, maybe a good old P4 driven no more than 350mA should light even the darkest stair.
That would be each led on the side of the stair maybe????
What effect are you trying to get with your LEDs? That would give us the info we need for good recommendation.....
Bob E.
May I just put in a plug for you to consider using some sort of spot optic. I have some of the Ledil optics for the cree leds. I got all the kinds that were available for the XR-E at the time and tested the capability of them all. (from Brum)
I think you may be happier with the results...
If you win the lottery that Lion stuff would be really nice to buy!! Which reminds me I should consider getting a couple of tickets for this weekends drawing.
I am surprised that not one of you mentioned anything about the power requirements of the Lion lathe. I saw the 12.5hp and 3 phase and...
Thanks for the link Barry!!
Been wanting a set forever, but never broke down to get one. It's nice to know the difference between the good stuff and the "other" stuff.
Bob E.
Icarus, first of all, that is a beautiful light. The choice of Nanomiser's bezel is absolutely stunning and will enhance the appearance of any flashlight that has the honor of wearing it. Nicely, nicely done.
Illum is right about your pouring of the GITD......it is very very nicely done. Do...
Mac, that is a much nicer job at the whole thing than the much smaller version that a neighbor and I made for his (don't laugh) UniMat3.
Any special kind of steel you used for that part?
