Fivemega,
I missed the boat on the P7 deep reflectors. Can you tell me what's the difference between this reflector and the one with the 16mm hole? Is it just the diameter of the hole that's greater or is the reflector "shorter" as well?
Kind regards,
Sami
Knowing that I'm "knowledgeable" in flashlights, a colleague has asked me to help him choose one for his night time excursions while fishing. I'm trying to steer him towards a DD 2D or 3D M@g. Cost is a consideration, but so is robustness and run time. A driver circuit only adds one more...
Re: Destructive Incan Bulb Tests - Updated 5/22/09 (Newer Info Added)
Is the reflectorised envelope opaque or slightly transparent? If it's opaque, wouldn't the beam shape be defined by the bulb envelope and not the reflector?
Cheers!

Re: Destructive Incan Bulb Tests - Updated 5/15/09 (Newer Info Added)
Maybe it's already been discussed, but has anyone tried relating filament length and wire diameter to the lumens vs. volts relation? That is to say, bring it down to the basic physics. Of course filament material maybe a...
There was a bit of a discussion on direct drive P7 Mags in this thread:

You might find something of interest. On a side note, It's the last character of the LED bin that you're looking for. If I'm not mistaken, J-bins are 3.5 to 3.75...

Thanks a bunch for your time! Looking forward to the tests on the 3853.

Re: Destructive Incan Bulb Tests - Updated 4/18/09 (New Info Added)
I get it. You're going by reference values and from lux values, you calculate the lumens.
Another question, I apologise if it's been already answered. Measuring an IRC-type axial filament bulb is simple enough, but what...

Just a comment here, a quick calculation using the "new" lumen values that you calculated for the CL-1794 bulb give a rating of slightly above 53 Lumens/Watt (1333 Lumens and 24.96 Watts). I never thought these levels of...
Thanks for clearing that up. I was in the process of making a P7 2D Mag. I wanted to run the P7 a bit harder than last time as I'll be using it myself.
Two ways of doing this are by using either one of Taskled's hipCC driver boards, or one of Der Wichtel's buck convertors. In as far as I can...

Just a question, how do you measure the current across the P7 LED? I read on another thread that there is a voltage drop caused by the ammeter which will underestimate the current flow. Is this true? How did you correct for this underestimation?

Very very very nice! I've got to finish my studies (thesis actually) and start proper work to have one "commissioned". Till then, I can always appreciate the effort that goes into every one of these masterpieces and dream! *Now where's that cloud 9 emoticon?*
Cheers!
