I seem to have a 4.5 ah Ryobi lithium battery. At least that's what the label on the bottom of the Pack indicates. That's what I got for $89.99, at least what the pack says....
Anyone able to shed some light on this?
Unfortunately, it's more of a 6000k or higher. Still very bright and even with the big 4.5ah lion not too heavy. Hopefully we can figure out a way to swap in a 4200k bulb, as I feel that would make this a great light.
I believe the linear setup has less "noise" when you are using say a radio transmitter or amplifier, whereas the switching setup is more noisy, but cheaper and lighter. Maybe someone can clarify a little better than I can, but that's what I understand.
Well I'll try to call them tomorrow and see what I can see. Hopefully all will work out.
EDIT - I did the short test already, only the LEDs come on. I shorted the batteries to the little insert at the end of the battery tube, so I'm sure the tail works.
I just tried to short the batteries to the tube and just the LEDs came on. The bulb for sure works, I accidently hooked it to the two rings and boy it gets bright and hot at 6.3 volts!! I only had it on there for less than a second so hopefully no harm done. I guess that leaves the circuitry...
Appears to be a no go. I got a little bit of black residue that I would assume was left over grease on the paper towel, but no dice. Can I test the LA with just one cell to make sure it is indeed operational?
EDIT -
I tested the buld with 1 - 123 battery and it functioned, so I tried...
With all the talk around here about A2's, I decided that it was time to acquire one for my collection. It truly is a great light for all the reasons already listed. I have one problem, the incandescent part has completely ceased to operate. For the first three weeks there were no problems...
That is the exact reason I engrave my initials in an inconspicous spot like under the head. It may tear up the light a little, but it's hard for a thief to explain either initials or the ground up spot where the initials used to be.
That's cool. I appreciate the information. I feel sorry for the guy that lost this one. I'd bet he had it for quite awhile. I was quite impressed in how much has changed in the P series lights from my old 6P and the new 9P, especially the lock out tail. You don't know how many times I've...
Speaking of serial numbers, I've got an old 6P that has no serial number at all. It is a Surefire, however the manufacturer is stated as "Laser Products" from Fountain Valley. Is this what SF called themselves a while back or something?
I found it in a rental car I rented and noone could find...
