About to pull the trigger: Jetbeam Fenix Malkoff (Night Hike)

For the price of two MD2's, you can get a Malkoff Hound Dog. I can only imagine how throwy it is, since it apparently blows away the Wildcat in this regard (and I am quite impressed with the Wildcat). Runtime isn't an issue --particularly on low-- especially if you get the 4x CR123/2x 18650...

    The "House" Flashlight

I don't have a "house light" per se, but my XP-G Wildcat is the first light I reach for. It's plenty floody for use inside on the low mode, and it's basically the second sun in high mode when something is going on outside. My MD2/M61 is the close-second choice for my go-to light. Great stuff...

    Malkoff MD4 Wildcat

There ain't no such thing. :nana: Oh yeah! Bring your Moddoo, too! I am really looking forward to beamshots of that little monster.

    LX2 Clickie Switch?

I feel like the proverbial broken record, but the turnkey Malkoff MD2 with high/low ring sounds like a really good option for you. It's not as throwy as either of the Surefires in question, but it's got 260-280 out-the-front lumens, smooth bezel, clicky switch, and is one of the smaller (read...

    Malkoff Drop-In or New Torch

Gene has been busy working on the M61, new XP-G Wildcats, and another sweet prototype light (that I will no-doubt have to get once released). Since finding any of his Mag mods is difficult right now, I suggest a turnkey MD2/M61. You can run it on 1x 18650 or 2x (R)CR123s.

    LX2 Clickie Switch?

It sounds like you want the E2DL. It's got essentially the same output as the LX2, but it has a normal clicky switch and spiky bezel. I believe it's a bit less expensive than the LX2, as well.

    9P And A M61 Will It Work

FWIW, the MD3 + SF Z41 twisty is an excellent 3-cell host for the M61. That's my exact setup. Well, the M61 and Wildcat head go back and forth on the body. Being about 3/8" shorter than the G3/9P, the proportions of this setup is excellent. I dunno exactly why, but it As a big bonus, the MD3...

Can Surefire G2 LED feed on 2xRCR123 or similar?

csshih has got it. Assuming you have the stock LED module in there, it's fine to run on 2x RCR123. Surefire may not condone it, but you'll be fine.

    The Malkoff M61!

PoliceScannerMan mentioned this a few pages back, but I think it's worth re-posting: don't forget to remove the protective film from the M61/MD2 window. I was unhappy that my window was cloudy and scratched. Fortunately, I came across Mr. PSM's post before bugging Gene. Thanks a bunch, PSM...

Beamshots - 4Sevens, SureFire, Ra, JETBeam, Malkoff, SR90, WiseLED, and more

Very nice comparison shots. Thanks. Is your Wildcat the new XP-G version, or the older one with 4 emitters and optics? If I were to guess, I would say that it looks more like the older one.

    Leatherman vs. SOK vs. SAK

As far as durability and reliability are concerned, SOG and Leatherman are equal in my experience. The difference lies in the design. While I love the SOG's plier jaws, I can't stand the way they set up the internal impliments; the lock is awkward and can sometimes engage only partially if a...

    Surefire 6PDL w/M61 or Surefire E2DL ?

Having played extensively with the E2DL, I have to say that the MD2/M61/hi-low ring is the best way to go. The beam is far more useful than the E2DL's, even in spite of having a bit less throw. Another advantage is that the Malkoff setup is a few bucks less expensive than the E2DL. I went...

Which drop in for my C2-CJ?

Having multiple Malkoff drop-ins and zero complaints whatsoever, I heartily recommend them. I have an M60, and M60W, and an M61. My favorite by far is the M61. Its beam pattern is definitely more suitable for indoor use, which is not to say the M60-series is bad in any way. The M61 is just that...

    Surefire 6P Drop-in Advice...

Yes, definitely Malkoff. I suggest either the M60 MC-E or the M61.
