    Review: ThruNite Catapult V3 (XM-L2 U2 Version)

I now have a genuine XM-L2 by way of replacement. Beam seems a bit tighter and brighter so glad I replaced. Nice light. I just need to decide whether to carry it with tow or four CR123s.

Features you thought you would love but end up hating (and vice-versa).

Love but thought I'd hate: CR123 batteries. "What's the point?" I thought, but I now love the long shelf-lives, light weight and wide operating temperature range. I still use 18650s but the CR123s make excellent spares and are great for seldom-used lights. Hate but thought I'd love...

What was the last LED light you purchased and why?

Just picked up two older lights to keep in my cars. 1) Foursevers MMU-HD (AKA S18) 2) Thrunite Catapult V3 Certainly not the latest and brightest but I'm really impressed by the solid build of these two lights. With a couple of diffusers (Olight SR51 for the Foursevens) and filled with...

    Review: ThruNite Catapult V3 (XM-L2 U2 Version)

HI, Just received my V3 "XM-L2" but I notice that the LED has a green PCB surround rather than silver. Does anyone know how I can tell if I have a genuine XM-L2 since I thought this was the most obvious distinguishing factor. The new catapult does appear to be brighter and more cool-white...

    Rechargeable Flashlights!!!

I have an MX25L2 and love it. 1) Great build quality 2) UI perfect for me - twisty selection + decent side clicky 3) LED charge indicator. I really like having a simple warning to let me know when to recharge. 4) Flexibilty of mains or car charger 5) No need to remove batteries for charging...

2xAA lights, primary lithium batteries, and low modes

My quark pro 2AA moonlight work works fine on Energizer lithium. Long runtimes too, according to the specs and Mr Selfbuilt.

Do you like your Zebralight H502?

I love mine: illuminates my peripheral vision and bright enough for "arm's length" working or reading. The wide and even illumination means I'm less likely to get dazzled when I suddenly look at something bright and close. If I need to see further I whip out a more throwy, pocket light such as...

    What's your favourite Zebralight?

It depends on your requirements but I really like my H502 as a headlight: the uniform flood over the whole field of vision feels very natural when working or walking around and, to my mind, is less fatiguing than a having to move my head to aim a more throwy beam. It's very light too, especially...

how did you program you Armytek?q

Right, I think I have it now. Line 1 100%,25% (full stabilization) Line 2 10%, Firefly 0.1, firefly 1, beacon, 2Hz strobe (step stabilization) No memory on either line. I can now have my two most often used modes ready at switch-on with no nasty surprises. No memory means I can avoid...

how did you program you Armytek?q

Line 1 100%,50%, ~10% Line 2 Firefly 0.1, firefly 1, beacon, 2Hz strobe (for signalling, warning should I ever need it) Step stabilization and memory on both. I'm still not happy - I think I'll add a 25% as the default on the second line and switch off the memory since this will give me faster...

What type of beam profile do you prefer for your EDC LED light(s)?

I like a broad hotspot with gentle transition to flood. For me, my Zebralight SC51+ and SC600 has this just about perfect.

    Eagletac SX25A6 has arrived

I have the same feeling about my MX25L2. I would prefer a bit more resistance to the twist action. Maybe a thicker O-ring would help? I'll give it a go and post results.
