BessieBenny's Budget LED (DX/KD etc) Flashlights Review Roundup (Part XI)

Thrower for under 25 at DX ? I am thinking of getting a nice thrower from DX. I haven't looked at the site for a while and I am sure some new, cool lights are out there right now. can someone point me to a few kick butt lights, throw matters the most. It can be either led or xenon or space gas...

    Leatherman Monarch 500

Re: Leatherman Monarch 500 ( 145 Lumens ) funny that you mention. I was dreaming last night about this very light. Not that I like it so much, or anything. ..In my dream I was in Costco, and picked up this light, thinking - yeah.. I wanted to check it out.. So I did. If felt pretty good in...

What light would you use to defend yourself agains Spider Crickets ?

The title says it all. All of us know how evil Spider Crickets are. Any ideas what flashlight would be bright enough to blind those scary *******s ? ( or maybe even to kill them with a beam of light ) ??

    Building a Light with Q5. 40000 lux !!!

Nitroz - the setup you talk about will not give me enough lumens  as I said, I do have access to cooper, tools and great thermal compound. I want to push the Q5 to the limits on 2x18500s. ( since I can fit that in a shorter body ) I guess I have to look for a good circuit board that...

    Building a Light with Q5. 40000 lux !!!

haha.. ok. So I guess it was naive to believe i can push 2 amps on Q5 ? I have access to copper and good Acrtic Silver compound, but again - I have never build a light myself ( or modded - if you will ), so I will trust you guys, that this is not doable for me at this momemnt. Would you say...

    Building a Light with Q5. 40000 lux !!!

thanks for the input. Still learning.. :) still researching.. Quick question - how much abuse in amps the Q5 can take ? I was looking at the board suggested by Gunner ( thanks again for all your help ) - here. Would this be possible my candidate to wire two of them to 2 x 18500 ? This way the...

    Building a Light with Q5. 40000 lux !!!

hey saabluster, sorry I guess I missed that you can remove the extension and shove two 18500s to get 2 amps! Would I have to put the two circuit boards to get that output or could I wire that directly to the LED ? Also, would you recommend the lenses Gunner was talking about with this thrower ...

    Building a Light with Q5. 40000 lux !!!

I guess I jsut don't like the double lenght of the Super Thrower. The smaller the better.. - I guess I like that approach. But if this is not realistic to get 2 amps from one battery, what would be the best way of getting MAX brightness from WD-600 ? Would change of Q5 alone make a difference...

    Building a Light with Q5. 40000 lux !!!

saabluster, do you think I could hook up the two .boards to one 16850 battery and still get this same amp output ? ( I know the runtime will be much shorter ) ? I don't like the super thrower look that much. much rather the lights mentioned above ( either the WD-600 or WD-400 ).. so is it...

Re: Building a light with q5. Need advice. hi Patriot36: the avatar is freaky indeed. As old polish sayins says: "look at what you are afraid of.. and you will be scared even more." Here is the list of things I am planning on getting: 1) BODY: WM-600 2) EMITTER: Cree Q5 3) EXTENSIONS...
