    Rebuilt DiveRite MR11 LED500 Questions

Hi, A Cree XML U2 led has a typical forward voltage of 3.3V at low current and 3.7V at full current (3A). Sum up the forward voltages of your led array and see if it is below or above your battery pack. The driver will "eat" a few hundred millivolts.

    Dive-Rite LED700 upgrade

Hi Sebastian, Oh yes, I remember, removing the heatsink was a real pain. I removed the o-ring with a small plier (cut it before) and with the center screw pulled as hard as I could. There is a small groove inside the body so the o-ring gets stuck in it when you try to pull. You can also try to...

    Wet plugs for charging

Hi, You can build your own rectifier with power schottky diodes which have a low drop-out voltage. But I don't know how the charger will react with the diodes: will the delta V detection be sufficient? -- Stéphane Acounis

    Who know professional diving flashlights?

Hi, Have a look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_Code

    Dive-Rite LED700 upgrade

Ok guys, I made the measures yesterday: the Gaggione Modbar lens has an angle of 11.42° (40cm spot at 2m distance) the Gaggione LLS05 lens has an angle of 17° (60cm spot at 2m distance) According to Descartes's law, underwater this would give angles of 9° and 13° respectively.

    Dive-Rite LED700 upgrade

Hi, Sounds like I missed your question! I can test the beam again and I can test the beam of the new DR MR11 light I moded (this one has a Gaggione LLS05 lens).

    Dive-Rite LED700 upgrade

Hi Packhorse, The lightest beam is 60cm wide. It's difficult to accurately measure the secondary beam as I have to hold the battery wires on the head's connectors. I will do it as soon as I have the pack ready. Simple trigonometry gives an angle of 17°. That's not what I expected. Thank you...

    Dive-Rite LED700 upgrade

With two 18650 3100mAh in series (2700mAh measured with the Imax B6 charger) I have 2h45 at full power until the voltage protection circuit fires. Switched to 30%, I still have 15-20 minutes. Not bad for a low cost upgrade!

    Dive-Rite LED700 upgrade

I don't know, I can't find any datasheet on their website (www.lednlight.com)! This collimator is sold by led-tech.de, I'm going to ask them for more informations.

Help me choosing my two next mods!

Hello, Now that my first trial with a led modification is almost finished and quite successful, I have two more lamps to mod but I hesitate between several solutions. I have a Dive-Rite MR11 head (35mm inside diameter, switch on battery canister) and a Metalsub Halogen head. For the MR11 head...

    Dive-Rite LED700 upgrade

The modification is nearly finished, only the battery pack has to be done (two 18650 3100mAh |2700 measured] in series). Here are the photos of the XML U2 module on the heat-sink with the driver at the rear. I used a Gaggione Modbar optics (6°). I will post pictures of the beam in the...

    Battery pack with LiIon?

Hello, I've been told by a friend that LiIon Batteries like 18650 ones have to be paired is assembled in parallel and that you can put a maximum of two batteries (2P). I'd like to build a 2S4P or 2S5P pack with balance charging wires (I have an Imax B6 charger), can I safely do it? Thank you.

    Dive-Rite LED700 upgrade

Even if the original leds are still working on the DR light (which could be a LED500), they are very dim so this morning I had a closer look at the driver circuit and found that the IC has burnt! There is a small hole in it. Google helped find out the reference, it's a LM3404HVMA from...

    Led flasher

Hello, Has someone tried to make a hi power led flasher? I have an old flasher housing collecting dust and I'd love to use it again (even though it is a nice waterproof key holder :p)

    Dive-Rite LED700 upgrade

Thank you guys for all, it really helped me being more confused about what to order! :sick2: But it made me read and search the forum to better understand how hi-power led works. Dealextreme will furnish the crappy aspheric lens just for playing and the batteries. Troutie for the Ahorton lens...
