Magniclight Bike Lights now on sale

Here is a review by a local hardcore distance rider. He says that it is comparable to the Dinotte 200l that he normally rides with, which seems to agree with the 16 lux rating at 12mph in that video. The nice thing about the magnic is that the brightness scales up with speed, instead of just...

    Warm Bedlamp

I assembled just this type of thing for my wife by buying a clip on lamp, a dimmer cord and a dimmable A19 warm white LED bulb from home depot. In general, if you can get a dimmable light, then you can simply put an LED bulb in the socket. Steve

LED Droop - some scientific research results

Not sure how interesting this will be for your average LED gear junkie, but it looks like researchers have a pretty good handle on why LED droop occurs: Researchers Say They've Solved the Mystery of LED "Droop" Its a science magazine type summary of physics modelling results. The author of...

Ideas for light on a flagpole on a low recumbent

Hi Steve, Yes, the bend is to point the light back towards incoming traffic. I picked up the acrylic rod from Tap Plastics - they are a chain out here in California. I built a simple jig and then stuck the end of the rod in the oven - this image should be clickable to the details: Bending...

Ideas for light on a flagpole on a low recumbent

A friend carries her daughter in a Burley trailer, which is about as low to the ground as a Catrike. it has one of those flags as well - she runs Electroluminescent Wire up the flagpole and turns it on when riding at night. It has "ok" visibility, but isn't comparable to a decent blinky. You...

    B&M Cyo Troubleshooting & Repair

I have a working Cyo that is sitting around. Are you free this coming week for me to pay for and pickup the Vent Noir? I can bring the Cyo around and we can see if we can identify the part, or at least, find the non-fried version and have someone like Matt try to id it. Steve

    Anyone tried LuxBrilliant LED lights?

Looks like a handy off the shelf LED strip light: http://www.led-mate.com/product_details.php?id=303&pid=166 Bridgelux warm white LEDs, looks like a reasonable form factor for cooling, and UL listed. Just curious if anyone has seen/tried them. Steve

Where to buy XP-G Warm White R2 & Neutral White R3?

What happens if you drive them at a lower current, like 700ma? Does the color become less greenish? I was planning on a small GB, and wanted to use a few for home lighting - but I may have a domestic revolt if I start putting up greenish lighting. Steve

    I made this today

That old lamp is beautiful, and its great that you brought it back to useful life - I wonder if 40 years from now people will feel the same about our Fenix, Edelux and other lamps?

Let's design a road front light beam

Nice job on getting those aspherics all aligned! I have an aspheric + MCE that I've been trying to decide if I want to build into a bike light or repurpose for other projects. I'm looking forward to seeing how the light looks on the road. Steve
