Maha C9000/Eneloop - still good choice and where to buy?

While I am happy with my BC-700, I would not buy the BC-900. The BC-700 isn't known for melting down like the BC-900, so I bought one. The BC-700 gets warm in use like many electronics, but it seems like a "comfortable warm," not "OMG, what's that smell?" warm. I'm considering buying...

Maha C9000/Eneloop - still good choice and where to buy?

In my experience as a former technician, "loose" power jacks are most often the result of bad soldering at the factory. The problem is worse on poor/designs that rely on solder alone to attach and support the jack. (Better designs have supports for the jack molded/built into the device's...

Maha C9000/Eneloop - still good choice and where to buy?

I just received the LaCrosse BC-700 (for about $30 w/free shipping from amazon) a few weeks ago, and I like it. It has 4 channels, adjustable charge rate, and test and refresh modes. It's also fairly easy to use. Biggest tradeoff for the money is the 700 mA max charge/350 mA max discharge...

Gerber LX 3.0 brighter than Tec-40?!?!

Re: Lithium AAs in LX 3.0 Hmmm. The package I received contains no such warning: "Specifications: "Power / (3) AA Batteries." That's all my packaging says.

Gerber LX 3.0 brighter than Tec-40?!?!

I just received my Gerber LX 3.0 (Thanks, Kevin F. and Battery Station) and WOW! It's my first Luxeon light, and I think it's just amazing. Unfortunately, I can't compare it directly to my PT Tec-40 because my Tec-40 got "lost" when I lent it to one of my co-workers (GRRRR!) but if memory...

Arc Flashlight Going Out of Business

Oh jeez! I'm so sorry. Good luck. I've carried an AAA every day since I bought two. (A white and a turquoise.) I don't know what could ever replace the white one on my key chain.

    Just venting...My sister is gone...

Re: My deepest sympathy... Oh, no, no, no! Your loss is terrible in itself, and the circumstances leading up to it make it all the more sad and tragic.

    Brightest and Best LED Flashlight

CatEye has a 5 LED focused bike headlight for about $25, IIRC. Check your LBS. I'd get one of those, and set it to blinkie for the city (with street lights), and keep a decent incan. to flip on when you hit darker paths.

    NEW Lights from Princeton Tec!!!

If the Impact XL is priced around $30, I'm going to have to pick one up. I tried an Impact II once. I was buying it as a gift. Naturally, I had to try it before I wrapped it up. I was impressed with the throw, but the lack of brightness caused me to bring it back to REI and exchange it for...

Left 4-D Mag in rental car. Ideas for replacement?

I do make over $100 a night (plus a minimal hourly wage) at the restaurant I work for now, consistently. It's better at some places than others, but I happen to work for one of the best, busiest independent pizza places in my town. I only work 3 nights per week right now, because I'm going to...

    PM6s with stripped threading. Aaarggghhh....

[ QUOTE ] Atomic6 said: Finer threads? Better taps? Better grade of Aluminum? Thorough cleanings in the pre-assembly steps? Hope they figure it out. [/ QUOTE ] I hope they're reading. I know Peter from Arc reads these forums, but are any other flashlight mfgrs. known to?

Left 4-D Mag in rental car. Ideas for replacement?

. . . I got the Mag-Charger today. I like it so far. It'll be going out with me to work tonight. I had a longer reply written, but the post got eaten because I didn't put anything in the title line. I'll write more later. Thanks again, ksbman.

Do you like where you live?

I like my neighborhood in South Minnie. I'm practically downtown, yet I have very reasonably priced rent. My neighborhood is full of decently kept/restored old brick apartment and condo buildings, there are relatively few freaks hanging out here at night (it's not a drug and thug hot spot...

need opinion on CMG infinity vs Ultra

I have 2 Arcs and an original Infinity. For around the neck or on the keychain, any daily carry activity, the Arc is definitely a better choice. It really is significantly smaller and much, much lighter. The Arc is quite lightweight, while the CMG is surprisingly hefty. The CMG is also...

What was the first "Real" flashlight you owned?

Re: What was the first Ah, I don't know if you call a 5-D mag "real," but that was it. Actually, I did have a 2-D Energizer Halogen at summer camp that was pretty impressive compared to what most of the other campers brought. (What was I, 11-12 years old at the time?) It had a black plastic...
