I have been in the Going Gear store many times. They are great guys! The last time I was in they were rebuilding their display. They have probably 200 or more lights on display that you can play around with and look at the beams and UI.
You guys that have this light. It looks like it would be a great weapon mounted light with all that throw, but can it be mounted? All of the fins and the clip seem to be in the way. I guess you could cut the clip off maybe?
Any thoughts?
I was told that the XML pill that comes with the DBS is driven at 2.5 A. You have to run 2x18500 or 2x18650 - I guess 3xRCR123 is also an option. 2xCR123A or 2xRCR123 are not recommended because of heat issues.
I got both extenders on the way. I already have plenty of protected AW 18650 cells...
Just heard back from Jay at FlashlightConnection.com. He highly recommended the VB-16 R2B as a pure thrower. He said the DBS V3 XML "lights the entire football field" versus and XR-E R2 lighting up the end of the field.
I guess I can start with the XML and buy a XR-E R2 pill later if I want the...
thanks for the help guys!!
I'm ordering it today. Just out of curiosity, where did you get the 27K lux number? I can't find a good review of the XML anywhere!
After contemplating several thrower options, I believe I have settled on a DBS V3. But I don't know if I want the XML or R5 version.
Does anyone have both and care to comment on the beam profile and throw of the XML?
I am hoping to use this on my AR-15 for night varmint hunts. If...
I just looked at the Xeno G42 and it looks very nice! I noticed it's shockproof - so weapon mounting is OK. My question is will it fit in a weapon mount?? It looks like all those cooling fins will get in the way. Do you have a photo of it weapon mounted? What mount do you use??
Thanks for the heads up on the TD15X srfreddy. I looked at both it and the Maelstrom G5 in Going Gear's store and the battery contacts looked the same (at least I thought they did) and I know the G5 can handle recoil. But I will be careful. I have ran the TD15X on my AR15 with no problem as of...
Thanks for the link EZO
Hard to tell alot from those shots IMO. The JetBeam RRT0 that I have looks similar to the TD15X in the beamshot but in reality the TD15X has a lot more throw.
Hey everyone,
I can't find a detailed review on the M8 anywhere. (Hint Selfbuilt )
I have a Quark Turbo 123^2 R5 and a Lumintop TD15-X and am looking for something with even better throw for night time varmint control used with an AR-15.
I am looking to stay under $120 and the M8 is...
Re: JETBeam RRT-0 - Can it use reachable batteries?
Biglou is correct. I have the RRT-0 R5 and use a 14500 cell in it all the time with the AA extender. My AW RCR123 cells work great in it with the extender removed.
+1
The guys at Going Gear are VERY helpful. I was in Atlanta for a meeting last week and swung by and they "fit" me for a brand new Thrunite Neutron 2A light
