    I like a stainless to pocket carry as it doesn't show wear like an anodized does. I carry then Fenix E05 ss, which is a AAA light. I little heavier than alum, but works well for me.

    My LD12 and EO5ss both recently went thru a wash cycle with no problems....around here the better question would be who hasn't washed their EDC.

    You have no weapon, no fighting skills and you think someone has bad intentions lurking in the shadows. You don't know what weapons this person would have. I will agree with Full Power and back out and get help if at all possible. A flashlight is no match for a gun ,knife or other weapons.

    You might have a defective light....I have a couple of the mt series and they will all start in strobe if I leave them in that mode.

    I have a swm m20a with an R5...good mix of throw and flood. The xml would have more flood to it, which seems to be what you need. Very well made light.

    I have had mine for months with no problems. Any brand can have a lemon slip by sometimes, I would just return it for exchange.
