Finally! A decent LED bulb for $10 (review)

Old thread but...I've had one of these running in an enclosed porch light, base up, in North Carolina (hot summers) for 6 months straight...still working fine. Maybe not turning it off and on helps.

    "universal" headband ?

The nitecore headband works for an AAA or small AA light (quark mini aa2). Initially, I found it to small for my head even adjusted out all the way. I solved this by cutting off the plastic adjustment pieces on each side and letting the band out all the way. Works great for me with an itp...

    Rayovac 3AA LED lantern runtime

NIMH were 2000 mah. The alkaline line looks a little weird because of the large gaps of times between measurements (I have a cheap light meter that I have to manually check, which doesn't happen during the work day). I don't really see a performance advantage to using NIMH over alkaline in...

Minimag LED multimode runtime (my first runtime test)

Here's a run with Duraloops. You can see flatter (but not flat) regulation, but with much reduced overall runtime compared to alkaline.

Moderately priced, small, plastic flashlight wanted

I'm pretty sure having an aluminium flashlight in your pocket won't make a difference in lightning strike risk. I'd recommend either the ITP A3 or a streamlight microstream. I own a few Maratac AAA's, essentially the same light as the ITP but in a slightly different body, and they are great...

Minimag LED multimode runtime (my first runtime test)

I agree, but maglites are designed to use alkalines, and I'm sure their ANSI standard runtime test of 18 hours used alkaline. For other, high-power lights, I'll use eneloops as well as alkalines/lithium.

Minimag LED multimode runtime (my first runtime test)

So I finally got my $20 amazon light meter (by Mastech). I was planning on getting a good one, probably an extech data logger, but I'm short on cash at the moment. I'm mainly interested in testing lights that don't have runtime graphs that I can find. For this test, I manually checked the...

    surefire G2L KX4 vs M61L

Howdy, Thinking of getting another surefire, for no good reason really. I currently have a G2 with malkoff M60L...great combo from what I've seen. Now I'm trying to decide between getting the newer 120L surefire G2L or getting a G2+M61L. G2L would be $60-70, G2+M61L $105. I'm leaning...

    cheap rayovac charger fails?

    After break-in on Maha: AA's: 1927, 1928 (rated 2100; ~92% of expected) AAA's: 740, 734 (rated 800; ~92% of expected)

    cheap rayovac charger fails?

Model PS33. I'm not really sure if this charger charges in series, but it does require 2 batteries to be charged at once. As far as my best interests, it only charges one way, and I do realize that independent channels are best, but it is just a cheap backup charger. Still around 12 hours...

    cheap rayovac charger fails?

I have the rayovac charge, bought off Amazon, that accompanies their "new" platinum LSD batteries, which I believe are basically Rayovac Hybrids. I took the charger on a weekend trip. I ended up running down the 2 AA and 2 AAA batteries that came with the charger. Before I left for home, I...
