    Upcoming brightest light?

Hi all, I'm a fan of ridiculously bright flashlights. I currently have an imalent ms12 and would like to upgrade to an ms18, but I keep wondering if something brighter is just around the corner since the ms18 has been the top (mass produced) dog for several years now. I have looked some and...

    Sold/Expired WTS - Imalent MS18 (100,000 lumens)

Probably a dumb question, but has it sold?

    infrared flashlights

They make those for d cell maglights? If so, that might be worth checking into. The only downside to that is that I then don't have a flashlight I can use for seeing with visible light unless I stop and swap bulb assemblies. With a filter, I could just flip it aside IF I can find one that...

I wonder if my nvd would see a co2 laser beam?

It's 10.6 microns, the wavelength most carbon dioxide lasers operate at. (There's another possible mode that's a little shorter wavelength, but not much.) If I understand the unit conversion correctly, it's 10,600 nm. It probably wouldn't see anything unless I aimed it directly at the nvd, in...

I wonder if my nvd would see a co2 laser beam?

This is really a silly proposition, but I got to wondering whether or not my cheap gen 1 nvd would be able to see the beam from my co2 laser? The wavelength of the laser is much longer than the wavelengths the nvd is sensitive too (if I understand the relationship between nanometers and...

    infrared flashlights

My thinking now is that I probably ought to just order an IR filter cap to put over the end of my 4d maglight. It will probably give by far the most visible (to my nvd) ir light for the money, considering I already have the flashlight. Plus I still have a conventional incan light by simply...

Basic primer on night vision equipment?

Thanks, that's a very good start! Now if I can make some sense of all the specs that appear on these units I'll be golden.

    infrared flashlights

Most infrared flashlights are led from what I can see, so this looked like the proper forum for this. I would like to get an infrared flashlight to augment the led ir spotlight built into a cheap gen 1 nightvision monocular I have. Ideally the flashlight would be mounted on a headband so that...

Basic primer on night vision equipment?

Hi all, Is there a basic explanation of night vision principles and equipment? Something that would explain the plain-English meaning of all the different specifications you see when you're looking at nv equipment? I've bought myself a cheap 1st gen monocular from sam's club, and it's...

List your lowest & highest power lasers..

My lowest power would either be a solid state laser in a cd player or a he-ne tube I've had since the 80's. I dunno which is weaker. The most powerful I have is the 40 watt CO2. I'm pretty sure it's not TEM00 based on the not-quite-round burn mark it puts in cardboard when you pulse it on...

    Wicked Lasers in MAXIM!!!

Wow, I had no idea that they make lasers more powerful than those used in fusion experiments. Those peak well up into the trillions of watts. Geez, all that time I thought those were really powerful. Heck, I'd have even thought my 40 watt CO2 was stronger than one of their laser pens. It's...

Aw, looks like I just missed getting on. If you accept more orders, will you start with those of us who missed the last batch?

    Sold/Expired "The Torch" Interest / Sign-Up Thread

I hope not-if so, maybe he'll take the people who posted after it was closed the next time he tools up to make a batch. I saw where it said closed, but then I noticed it was in fact still open to post in. That led me to think it had been literally closed for posting by a mod, then reopened...

    40W laser. Yes, 40Watts

I have what may be the exact same laser tube he has. Mine is also rated at 40w, though I have no idea whether or not it actually puts out that much. I believe it to be for medical equipment-the power supply I got with it is certainly for medical purposes.
