    LED or CFL Lantern?

So do mosquitoes...Well, more like the CO and CO2 field they give off (plus the light). We use one every weekend hanging out drinking beers in back of my place. Put the Coleman Dual Fuel about 25 feet from us...on about 80% high gives us enough light, and all the mosquitoes are drawn to it and...

Hey, was checking out the forums today and noticed in a post on the SF-aa thread your location as NCCo....I'm in Wilmington, Trolley Square area...Drop a line if you ever hear of a meet-up in the area.

    Coleman Dual Fuel Lantern

True, but still of a level of -almost- as quiet. At those levels the white gas consumption is minimal. Unless you're pulling off refillable propane tanks, it's pretty efficient. I must add that the Coleman white fuel was $4.99ish gal 2 years ago and I bought 4 gals. A lot different when its now...

    Coleman Dual Fuel Lantern

I've got the Dual-Fuel Powerhouse model. Holds 2 pints I believe..... I fill it with those MSR 23oz backpacking bottles. Makes measuring easy, as I know at empty, dumping the full bottle will give me 3/4th(ish) of a tank. and it runs for about 6-7 hrs on that, and doesn't really need pumping...

    Thin, pocketable, tactical EDC

I've just gotta 2-cents it.....even though the OP mentioned a sub $100 tac EDC, I was looking for the same 2 years ago, and ended up spending a tad extra at my local shop on a Benchmade 940 plain tanto. It was about $140, and to this day I would buy it again in a heartbeat. It's so much an...

    Handgun Flashlight

I love my SureFire X300....though I have a feeling it will probably soon get a bin-up with the LED they're using. I think it's an older over-driven Cree.

What Lantern would warm as well

My best and cheapest (but not "most safe") emergency heater has always been a top-of-tank screw on coleman 1-burner propane burner. I used to have a 6lb tank, which cost less than $3 to refill, with a 12" tree. Would run on low, probably 4-5k btu's for almost 2 days. Once during a massive...

Self defense flash light laws in Texas

Spit out my drink on that one! As a kid, I used to fly down 3 times a year to Houston TX to visit my family.....While my mother and brother would be at work, I would spend the afternoons at pawn shops hunting out used rare CD's and such. Of course, all the pawn shops had gun cases, and at...

What Lantern would warm as well

A 16.4 oz disposeable propane cannister has about +/- 21,000 btu's hiding in there when full. On a propane lantern with say, a 5-7 hr runtime, you can guarantee that most of that stored energy is going to go to heat, with only a few percentage points of it being turned into lumens.

    Surefire LX2 Serial Number Registry

X00742 Here, fellas. I love it, but I need to send it in.....The pocket/belt clip snapped off in just normal tac-bag usage, and I can't lock in my high anymore, only avail through push (and hold). This thing has legs; got mid-summer, and I'm only on my third set of LiPri's. The low is...

    Coleman propane lantern lumens?

As well, with decent handling, I get about 18 months.

Glowsticks better than flashlights for serious emergencies?

True...cheapest I could find for name-brand was $1.25 each in bulk. For that much, you could go with 123's....After looking around, I expected them to be cheaper in bulk. The Alkie AA's we have at work are DuraCell Procells, and I pay about $8 a 24 pack for them through GovEd channels.

Glowsticks better than flashlights for serious emergencies?

I think I'd trust a few hundred lithium AA's before a thousand glowsticks. In my L2d-CE, that's about 60 hrs for each set of 2 on low. And that low is brighter than a AA minimag. Also, you've got a ~10 yr shelf life. My emergency grab-kit has an innova X5 white in it, as well as a couple...

Wow your a fanatic or something...?

EDC - Original Fenix P1 on a belt loop or if I'm wearing cargo shorts, my SF E2D in a cargo pocket....Rear right butt pocket is a Benchmade Osborne 940. Always. Every time I sit down, I move it to front pocket. It's gotta be the most easy opening 1 hander that I can legally carry. Actually...

    Fenix lights to the Rescue!

You'd never realize how much light you can put out until you're in an area with -absolutely- no ambient....such as a basement in an office building. I remember being in a lab during a power outtage, and the E-lights didn't kick on immediately. For the first minute, my vanilla original P1 lit...
