    headlamps that are reliably waterproof?

I've had good luck with Zebralights in wet conditions (believe it or not). That's an H600 on my helmet, and there was an SC52 in my pocket at the same time. On a previous trip we clipped the SC52 to the end of a measuring tape, turned it on, and lowered it to the bottom of that pool to see...

Cave Exploring Headlamp List - regularly updated, includes tech specs

I respectfully disagree with the 200 lumen minimum guideline. IMHO, more important is the maximum output that can be maintained for the duration of a caving trip (without having the change batteries). As an example, the Zebralight H51 can output 200 lumens, but that's only for 0.9 hours! It...

    Mine exploration

I do a fair amount of abandoned mine exploring... I've used a Pt Eos (not bright enough), Surefire Saint (not bright enough, beam sucks), PT Corona (almost adequate) and a PT Apex modded with a reflector (great). I would recommend something from Spark or Zebralight with a reflector (not a flood...

The NEW H502 "Wet Poll" - Is Your H502 Waterproof?

For what it's worth... I've used my Zebralight SC51F under 6' of water, and it hasn't leaked. I personally trust Zebralight as much (or more) than most other non-dive lights.

What did you use your knife for today?

Used the serrated edge on my Benchmade Mini-Grip to thin brush while surveying in the woods this week (someone didn't bring a machete). And I'm sure I opened some bills with it too.

    Your advice is needed

First light that comes to mind is the Fenix HP11. With that big reflector it should have plenty of throw, and I think it meets all of your other criteria.

Red LED HeadLamps (night vision) - Any Recommendations?

What AnAppleSnail said. Bright red light won't preserve your night-adapted vision, you might was well just use bright white light.

Surefire Maximus, Minimus AA, Minimus Tactical and Minimus Vision!

Really??? Mine was removable. The plastic part that each end of the headband goes through should have a notch so that the headband can be slipped out.

    Replacement bulbs for Petzl Zoom

I've never had a bulb die on me while doing this... but I'd expect shortened bulb life. At least the Zoom has a holder for spare bulb!

    Replacement bulbs for Petzl Zoom

Try a 3-cell bulb with 4 x NiMH AA. I've done this with other lights, with excellent results.

When will we see the alternate screw-in reflector for the Spark SD series?

I recall reading somewhere that it has a 90-degree spill.

When will we see the alternate screw-in reflector for the Spark SD series?

THANK YOU! Those beamshots are very helpful - I can see that the reflectored SD6 has a much tighter spill than the ST6. I'm considering buying a Spark for caving, and I'm looking for as wide a spill as possible.

When will we see the alternate screw-in reflector for the Spark SD series?

Has anyone measured the width of the spill beam with the SD reflector?

Surefire Maximus, Minimus AA, Minimus Tactical and Minimus Vision!

Thanks for the update on the Maximus. The price is a bit lower than I expected (I still can't afford it, though).
