Any meaningful changes in flashlights in the last 5 years?

Great thread. I only check in briefly every now and then to research a new light...money saving strategy you know how it is. I didn't realize how much I was missing out on though. This year I poked around and picked up a Thrunite TC20 + Catapult V6 and was fine with that, but then I found...

Topping off: A major advantages of rechargeable batts. How often do you top off?

One of the great things about flashlights that take removable batteries, is you don't have to handicap their available performance for years and years, you can just spend a few bucks on a new battery after several years if need be. Same thing for a lot of older non-Apple phones.

    Thrunite TC20

I just ordered an Orbtronic 5750mah IMR 26650, maybe that will help... I went back and forth with some 26650 or quad 18650 with this purchase...never bought a light 'larger' than 1x18650 before...need a thrower now...Thrunite catapault v6 nw to stay with 26650 form factor like this TC20 or...

I generally top off li-ion before 'needed'.. It's not worth the hassle and record keeping and risk of getting caught partially prepared to have partial charges. I also don't have a lot of li-ion, relative to a lot here I'm sure. Eneloops generally get run till they are dead and then fully...

    Thrunite TC20

I've been playing with mine for several days now. Turbo mode doesn't work, either no go or drops down within a second or so, along with a brief red flash of the button LED (otherwise blue). The inner spring of the dual in the tailcap was broken off on arrival as well. It's pretty bright on...

What is the consensus here regarding Streamlight in general and the Protac 2L-X in

In general Streamlight is awesome. Top shelf manufacturer. Old thread I know I know. I just realized the 1L-1AA was a 'thing'. Must have!

    Cr123 vs AA flashlights

He's right. They do have a smell. I noticed it most when I stored some in an otterbox for travel (upon opening), but even without that, they do have a smell.

    Thrunite lying to us?

    Cr123 vs AA flashlights

I was all in with CR123 when I first got into this. For years my daily pocket carry was a small-as-they-get 2xCR123 light, which was fairly popular and common at the time (Surefire, Fenix, 4Sevens were mine). I even put a chunky 1xCR123 on my keychain (P1, then P1D-Q5). But not any more. There...

    Surefire Customer Service

Most companies I deal with or would deal with. Flashlight realm, Zebralight and Fenix so far have far outclassed Surefire (product and customer service both)

Zebralight SC63 Question: Is a Hard Yellow Center Spot Normal?

FWIW while we are chiming in I have an SC62w and an SC63 XHP35 cool white. No donuts or spots in the middle or anything. Also no whine. Just great lights.

Just got a new Nitecore MT10A!

Re: Just got a new Nitecore MH10A! There don't seem to be many threads about this light. I don't feel like I have enough to start a thread so I'll just drop this off here. I've had mine for a week or two now. I was mostly drawn in by the 'run on any AA battery' (and offer 900+ lumens on the...
