    The Flashlight should be fine, the only problem would be the battery leaking. I've lost a couple of LED lights that way.

    For the cost of the upgrade you can buy a new Minimag AA LED, I have the 1 watt Terralux upgrade and it is fairly bright (45ish lumens I guess, really bright by 3 year old standards) and it is a little cheaper.     Based on my experience Duracell has the best response for a leaked battery, Energizer by far the worst.

    Maglite says not to use ant other than alkalines, I have heard some issues with Mag LED's with other types of batteries.

    I tried hitting the end of the barrel on a hard surface, I hit a little too hard and bent the barrel of the light. I'll try the wood screw idea if the problem comes up again.

    a followup, I emailed Rayovac for a comparison and they said to send them the light and if their battery caused the problem they would repair or replace.

    Mag has a contract with Duracell, Energizer, and Rayovac if any of those batteries caused the issue Mag will fix it per the website. If it is another brand they will charge you for the repair/replacement.
