    Pelican 7060 Warranty Service

The only time Pelican wanted me to send in the body was with a Stealthlite 4AA that wore out the switch (after years of hard service). Obviously it would've been tougher to swap out the part, plus the guy in the email said they like to have it to check out how it eventually failed. :) Sent me...

    Pelican Customer Service Problems?

I hope things haven't changed. I had an RMA on my old Stealthlite 4AA twice. Once for a damaged head assembly and then again years later for a worn out switch. They only asked me to send back the old body because they wanted their tech squad to autopsy the body to improve the switch design...

Looking for a General purpose med sized light THAT MUST USE AA or AAA

Two things to consider: 200 lumens seems a bit on the high side for an XR-E emitter. Either a) it's overestimated, or b) it's driven too hard and will kill the emitter. (I think this is what happened with my Coleman) Based on the specs given, I'm guessing (a) as I doubt you'd get 200 lumens...

Which rather compact light gives good throw on NiMH AA batteries?

A Lowe's Task Force 2C with adapters to fit 2AA? ;) Ok, maybe it's not that compact, although technically it does fit inside your size requirements (Length 6.75", Body 1.25", Head 1.50")

Looking for a General purpose med sized light THAT MUST USE AA or AAA

From one engineer to another, it doesn't *have* to be $70. Don't get me wrong, there are a LOT of outstanding lights out there in the $70 range, but if you're willing to give up big newest baddest light on the block, there are also a fair number of second tier lights to be had for half the...

Toughest led lights...Cheap but light plastic...or expensive and thick metal?

In my experience, the "toughness" of a light has way more to do with the quality of the guts of the light that cannot necessarily be determined just by how the housing looks. I've had "plastic" lights work dependably for years, while others have fallen to pieces. I've had metal lights...

What did you use your flashlight for today?

    Power outage. Jealous? :D

My toddler is afraid of the dark...

I know I've mentioned it here before, but my favorite kid light is the eveready 4aa light. (Shaped like a dorcy turtle light). The larger body is easier to find when they put it down somewhere. :)

Help with choosing a reliable 2-AA flashlight

Inova bolts aren't the brightest, but they've worked every day for years on bikes and under houses. I would not recommend minimagleds, I had an early 3aa model and the switch went out. Plus it was sadly obvious that their "official" warranty center was poorly trained/equipped for new...

Need 33 AA or AAx2 lights for work

This can be an important consideration. If you're dealing with electrical/explosive environment, then a metal/nonventing body can become an issue. I can attest to the 4AA Stealthlite, I still have mine from nearly 15 years ago, having been replaced once by Pelican for wear under hard daily...

Ok what light did you get for Christmas/Holiday ?

Gerber Mongoose. :) Meanwhile, I gave - two Nite-Ize drop-ins on my kids' kiddie flashlights (Cars & Buzz Lightyear), two Task Force 2AA 1/2 watters, and a coleman 4AA flip/fold lantern. :)

Checking on my motorcycle from 300 yards away.

This. Make a distinctive pattern with quality DOT (red and white), railroad (yellow), or uscg tape. Of course it will only tell you if the bike is still there, not if anyone is bumming around it.

White Top vs. Black Top Duracells

Too bad for them I didn't even realize the back of the card said Japan until today. I assumed with the black tops and read the label on the cells. :naughty:

White Top vs. Black Top Duracells

Sadly, the new Costco multipacks do say "Made in Japan" on the back of the card, but the batteries themselves say "Made in China". :mecry: I knew they were Durahybrids at the time, just got a little desperate as they didn't carry Eneloops anymore, and couldn't snag any white tops at Target...
