    Too bad its only low wattage HID, much higher performing HID out there, with equally good build quality to military specs. they were only 35 and 40 or so watts HID, we have made units with more than double that wattage & performance.

    That's a new one on us at XeVision - Dan Pretty much an infinite shelf life though. Fine wines must be stored horizontally to keep the cork wet and sealed, also no extreme temperature swings.

    I wouldn't call this boxy, 50/70 watt HID battery powered searchlight. Most good HID searchlights in recent (10-15) years have been of this configuration. This uses D1S or a D1 shaped Igniter with a D2 based (P32d) bulb. Search and rescue, or military/police application primarily.

    To my knowledge the only gas inside automotive HID lamps is Xenon, just like pure Xenon short arc lamps (not automotive) but which have no Metal Halide salts at all, only Xenon. Also a minute amount of mercury mixed in with the MH salts of D1S and D2S, none in D3S etc.
