    Upgrade an old Fenix TK41?

What are you trying to accomplish with your upgrade? A TK41 is 6500 color / 55,746 cd with a XM-L T6, 6500 color / 59,000 cd, with a XM-L U2. Would 6k color be noticeably different in anything other than a side-by-side comparison? Why do you want to shorten the throw?

    Unwanted phone battery behavior

After replacing the battery in my Galaxy S5, I had some funny battery meter readings. I found and used these instructions, and calibration appears to have been restored. How to calibrate an Android device battery without root access: 1. Discharge your phone fully until it turns itself off. 2...

    Home light

I don't know what kind of temperature range you encounter in your area but the one downside of any Li-ion flashlight is that they don't handle extreme temperatures well.

"8 million sold to date" is insignificant volume. Annual sales volume of AA batteries in Japan would be in the billions.

Why did Fenix discontinued the ARB L2 3200 (18650, 3200mAh)

AFAIK, just because it was replaced by the Fenix ARB-L2S 3400 mAh which has since been replaced by the ARB-L18 3500 mAh.

What do you do with depleted cells in the wilderness?

So where did you get your batteries in the first place? Like Jomohr48 said "if it goes in with you, it goes out with you, NO exceptions" even if you have to take it all the way back to you home. if you aren't willing to do that, don't go to those place and ruin it for others.

Can FourSevens Maelstrom MM-X Gen 1 use protected 18650?

It's possible that the protected 18650 is too long, and preventing the tailcap from seating properly. Remove the tailcap and use a jumper from battery negative to flashlight body. EDIT: 2 x CR123A = 69 mm, protected 18650 can be over 70 mm

Cleaning battery corrosion out of a light with baking soda

You may want to try DeoxiIT on the contacts. If you use isopropyl alcohol, I suggest you use 99% rather than the 90% or 70% since those grades contain 10% and 30% water. It's available at most pharmacies (kept behind the counter in some jurisdictions).
