Nope, but sure as hell going to listen in on this thread!

Thought about lexan - it scratches when cleaned in the field...

Thought about tempered glass - but it shatters into pieces when dropped and cant find it in the right thickness...

Looked up Sapphire - cant find it anywhere in Aus, because were at the *** end of space!

So I am basically looking at glass of some sort, just for strength and scratch resistance and optical transparency - and yes I am thinking of a security window film on it for strength...
What's your application? There's a store near here (San Francisco, CA) that sells acrylic sheets with either single-sided or double sided abrasion resistant coatings. The stuff comes in 1/8" or 1/4" (3.2 or 6.4mm) thickness. I haven't tried using that stuff, yet, but, I'm planning on getting some and trying it. I've already made a few lenses out of non-coated acrylic and it's great stuff other than its lack of scratch resistance.
