Whilst not quite as old my Varta 2500 NiMH's are still in service circa 2007, I've got older Arlec C cell NiCD's that still work well...

NO resister this time, the higher battery resistance & higher Vf seem to make a difference.
I did pot & heat sink the pot the whole

Not near any bus lines, IIRC.
No plans (at this time) to produce this I'm afraid. It's also probably hard to tell from the photos but this bad boy is about the size of a 3D maglite.
