Newly Enlightened
Not sure if anyone here will appreciate this nearly as much as I do, but here is my Kavelight mounted to my vintage miner's leather soft cap:
In the spirit of honesty: my dear father used period tools to reconstruct the leather sometime in the 1990's and there are modern rivets and a modern snap on there somewhere now, but I believe the blade mount bracket is original and antique!
Aside from of course my helmets, I also have a newer baseball-style hunters cap I can wear it on - but nothing starts a conversation like the leather hat. The hard protective helmet was invented in 1915, patented in 1919, and originally made from rigid steamed canvas - prior to its invention each miner had to make their own hat for holding their carbide lamp.
