Along a regular walking route, someone installed a 2W LoA LED bulb
over an apartment garage door. Bulb has a clear round globe and square
beam up the centre with small rectangular SMT LEDs along the edges.
It doesn't emit much light, and there are streetlights nearby, so I hardly
see the point, but it's there and running day/night for the last couple
of months.
At first, it was hard to make out indivual LEDs due to brightness and
dazzle. Now, after only 1000 hours, it has noticibly dimmed, and I can
see each LED. Looks like LoA hasn't learned from the previous version,
the infamous showerhead design. I imagine another dissatisfied customer
soon, cursing LED bulbs.
I spoke to folks at a local, well-respected hardware outlet nearby, which
sells these bulbs. They were interested to hear about these issues, but
they continue to sell them. I noticed the original showerhead bulb is now
"discontinued"...wonder why.
