Im not sure if someone else posted something like this, but I will take my chances
I found a super easy way to spot imperfections in reflectors and optics, you just need a "el cheapo" thread counter magnifier:
You can also use a simple magnifier, but the results aren't as nice, but they are still useful
I took these photos at the wall, pointing thru the lens:
McR27 is from an Aleph
IMS27 is from a Lionheart
NX05 and IMS17 are used by me to test stuff from time to time, you can appreciate the abuse they suffered
All of these when projected directly to the wall show a perfect beam.
