My question is to the Battery Gurus here, but this is not a flashlight question.

I want to replace the batteries in my Norelco T990 Hair Trimmer. There is pack of two AA-size batteries connected in series.

EACH battery (Made in EU) is marked as follows:
SAFT
Ni-Cd
2 VRE AA 600 R
2.4V - 600mAh
Charge 60mA x 16h

This marking is confusing. Since I never heard of a single rechargeable NiCd battery with 2.4V, I can assume this is the voltage for BOTH batteries, even though this is the markings on EACH battery.

So, what do you think is the specs for a single battery - 2.4V or 1.2V? Just want to be sure

The charger for the trimmer is marked:
Input: AC 100-240V 50/60Hz 0.1A
Output: DC 2.5V 1A

And since we are on the subject, if they are 1.2V, can I safely replase them with NiMn batteries with higher capacity?

Thank you

Here is the picture of this battery pack
