I'm going to try optics to increase the throw on this Amilite. Ideally, it should give a good throw but still leave at least a small area of dim spill. Are there any shops/vendors/distributors for Carclo optics or the NX05? I only see one vendor for the Fraen LP and it doesn't even say whether it'll fit a 20mm size head or whether a holder is required, etc. Can anyone educate me about this? (btw, tried search and it wasn't too helpful.)

I'm not familiar with the Amilite, but the Sanwich shoppe should have what you need.

I use NX05 and the fraen offered from the shoppe for "all" of my flashlights, because I like an usable very medium flashlight flood beam with my 2AA lights.
Have tried a few of the IMS reflectors and hate their output, but if You want TROW, then no optic is suitable,
get one of the IMS, the largest one that fits
--> best for throw
(or try the original Minimag Reflector, and then there is the Acrylic ball ...
