I also remember his late wife who played Deela in Star Trek's "Wink of an Eye".

Darn! I loved Darrin McGavin in everything he did.

"Kolchak the Nightstalker" was his epoch though...he made that character live, played first against Anthony Zerbe, then Simon Oakland as his frustrated boss.

"This is NEWS! NEWS I tell you!"

Don't forget he was the dad in Billy Madison too.

My wife and I watched the new Night Stalker. It was just not the same with a handsome, strong, young guy in the Kolchak role. We both wanted McGavin back.

Did you know he had over 170 acting credits to his name? He did theater sometimes too.

Sigh.
