I have one of those COleman lanterns (4 "D" cells) with a clock built in. I'm thinking of buying an EverLED for it to increase brightness and runtime. Do you guys think that the EverLED emits enough "side" light for decent illumination? Also, what do you think the runtime would be. The lantern has a dual level light mode apparently with a resistor inline with the bulb (low).

Wow! That's a lot of output for an LED. I'm interested in long run times to 50% (about 50+ hours).

Thanks John.

That looks like an awesome bulb and I'll give it some thought.

An EverLED will give you the longest runtime due to it's buck/boost converter. It will keep going at near full brightness until the batteries are totally dead...and then still give you many hours of useable dim light.

Everleds can get hot; check out the bulb post for metal heat sinking. If it's plastic, I'd advise agains burn times like you're thinking of.
