For only $119 I can get a Trailtech hid. It looks like it would make a pretty darn good bicycle light. Would it? Does anyone know if i can run it directly off 10 AA Nimh's?

I have been looking at the 35W model.
http://www.trailtech.net/eclipse_mr16.htm

They seem really nice, especially for the price.
Nice small, water tight, internal ballast.

Drawback, they arent that effecient.
Dont get me wrong, they are ALOT more eff. than an incan bulb,
but they arent as eff. as D2 bulb setups.

Should make a great bike light though,
10AA would work I think, but with voltage sag, you should probably use 12 cells.

I have emailed them with a few questions, including what the actual voltage range is.
but I have not gotten a responce yet.

I bought a Trail-tech single 10W HID helmet light, and it only lasted 15 minutes before suddenly cutting off and dying permanently... :ohgeez: I just sent it back for warranty replacement, so I really hope it was just that one that had problems.

BTW, the one I bought has a voltage regulator that will regulated a 14.4V Li-ion pack down to 12V for the HID light. If you buy just the head itself, you should only use 12V power.
