Many years ago I found a circuit diagram (about 4 components in total) to light up an LED off house mains voltage, 220v in my country. I built the circuit and it worked great. Problem is that I want to build one again and cant find the Elektor magazine containing the diagram.

Can anyone help with a circuit diagram?

Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. I eventually found the circuit diagram. Consists of the LED, a rectifying diode and a capacitor. That's it!! The cap. determines the current flow through the LED.

Don't forget to fuse the circuit and have some "real" resistance for surges, spikes and other transient conditions.
