I may be wrong, but Rob's prices are in £ Sterling, so the price in $ would change daily depending on the PayPal exchange rate.

Bummer on the continued delay. I thought for sure with all these being etched before your vacation that they would surely be on their way by today.
If Time = Money does it also hold that Continued Patience = Discount? ;-)
Back to patiently waiting....

I will not be doing the Raw Da again for a while. How Long depends on all sorts!!
I'd like to peruse some new ideas next.

Re: Raw Da (Damascus) Sign Up List
Hey there orb...
I was wondering if it would be possible to make orbs (or other designs for that matter) out of tungsten carbide. I know tungsten carbide can be machined in wedding rings and things of that sort, so I'm pretty sure the capabilities are there, though not a metallurgy expert.
A flashlight (a CR123 one ideally, waterproofed/o-ringed too) made out of tungsten carbide would be the uber ultimate EDC. It would be practically impossible to scratch/abuse that thing. Impervious to wear and tear. Ideal for keychain EDC.

It would be possible, others have done this before. There is something special about a Tungsten LED torch!! If you went up to 123 size cells the weight of such a light would certainly be noticeable.
No plan to go this route, other ideas to peruse.

Re: Raw Da (Damascus) Sign Up List
Hmmm dunno about that m8...
I know of people that have used tungsten... sure... but tungsten carbide is another story alltogether! Tungsten is not THAT hard by itself to machine/handle, as a matter of fact, in its pure form, you can cut it using a hacksaw. However tungsten carbide is *way* harder to deal with. Actually 99.9% of the cutting tools on the CNCs/high-end drillbits/etc themselves are *coated* or have inserts of tungsten carbide in order to be superhard (AFAIK). If I'm not mistaken you need a diamond in order to cut tungsten carbide.
You can read more on tungsten carbide here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tungsten_carbide
As far as I know, noone has ever done a flashlight out of Tungsten carbide. However someone out there must have the capabilities to machine it, since it is used for wedding rings etc as a scratch-proof alternative to precious metal, and even titanium.
One thing is for sure, it would take considerable research to find somewhere that could machine it! I'm on the looking, if I find anything I'll let ya know, if nothing else for the sake of sharing ideas/information.
PS: As I said I am no metallurgist, so no idea if this is even possible when talking about machining something the size of a flashlight. I was just thinking of all the people who are concerned about damaging their EDC when on a keychain/pocket, and thought of this as a way to counteract that problem.

If you go to hard, it would then become brittle. A drop or knock may chip rather than dent.
There always seems to be a trade of some where!!!
