At the request of one of the other members of this
forum, and because I've never really done so, I thought
I'd make a post about the services I can offer to the CPF.

What I have is a nice metal lathe, and some evenings
when I can do mods. What I also have is a desire for
flashlights,
smile.gif
so I thought one thing could help the other
here. I am offering to the members of the CPF my services
to make custom flashlight cases. I may in the future make
some full-custom lights, but currently I'm only offering mods
to existing lights.

I have made custom battery holders for the Arc-LS head
(of numerous types), and custom battery tubes for the
Arc-AAA, as well. My current repertoire also includes the
Surefire E1e, and the CMG Inifinity.

I make double-ended holders for these, using the same or
different heads for each end (so far - 2 x 123 holder for
Arc-LS, an LS/E1e combo, and an Arc-LS/Infinity combo),
or custom battery holders (2AA holder for the E1e, for
example). I'm in the process of making a full-custom body for
a 123 cell and an Opalec Newbeam module. I am also
commissioned to make some spare battery carriers (in Delrin -
a plastic material). I have made and continue to offer Delrin
caps for your spare Arc-LS battery holders.

I am also open to custom orders, if you have something different
in mind.

In exchange for this work, I like to get trades. I'm looking
for several different lights (please email for list), and I'm
also looking for some Luxeons (LS/o in white). I offer prices
in cash, but perfer trades, as I like getting presents in the
mail...

(Not to mention that it's easier for US citizens to
order some of this stuff and have it sent to me). I have
a Paypal account, for those who prefer that method.

Right now, my delivery time is about 3-4 weeks, since this
is a hobby, not a full-time job.

Please email me at [email protected] to
discuss mods you are interested in. Thanks!

Mailed your "birthday present" off today, actually, Silviron. It should be there in about a week.

Enjoy!

On the Opalec mod: I just found a tiny socket for the bi-pin base of the Opalec module. It solves a host of problems, and I can make the module replaceable in case of damage. That next step beckons...

I found I must have missed some emails sent to me last week, so if anyone emailed me about mods, and I didn't reply, please resend the email. Looks like my ISP hiccupped or something.

Thanks, all.

Well, the problem is that it keeps changing (in my head, where changes are easiest
smile.gif
). I will be posting pictures of the completed piece, no fear, but it will be a week or two before I get to that stage. I made a base for it like a Surefire bulb, because I was going to make the mod work like a Surefire, but its not working out like I wanted. I will have to rethink it.

The basic idea of the mod is to make the Opalec modeule run on a 123 battery. This would be smaller than a Minimag, and cooler, because it's a complete custom job. People have been inquiring, and I have at least one person who asked to be put on the list for the next one...

I'm curios about what switch you are considering; twist head or tail switch. I can't get McGizmo's light out of my head. It's absolutely gorgeous!

Doug,
Anyway you could make a extension for the reactor to make it a three cell? If so, how much do you think it will cost?

Doug, before making commitments to start new projects, how about finishing up your existing ones? I'm still waiting on the 2-sets of 2 x AA bodies that I paid for on September 24th.

HI,

How about a battery tube extention for the E1e/E2e that will screw into the body. The tailcap will screw onto the other end of this extention, giving room for 1 more battery. A spring would fill in the gap between the extra battery and the batteries in the E1e/E2e body.

This way we can convert from E1e to E2e. Also, we could use the KL1 with 3 batteries? Then we convince pk to release an E3e lamp 60lm for 100 minutes runtime.

Why not just have a tube extention that screws into the front part, that way the tailcap will be left untampered, and there won't be any extra length from a spring.

YC,
Your way is the only way!

The reduction in the tail precludes loading batteries from the rear unless something has changed??

If the extension is for LED bezels, I would second an idea mentioned elsewhere of having the extension finned for more cooling as well a cool. The female section will need to be close to 1" in OD anyway. Keep it at 1" and go with fins. It will be long enough to accept glow ring vials in the sides and I think Doug would want to throw that option in for free.
