    Default Kansas City Area BBQ

Yesterday Depusm12, Cheapo, and I decided to ask for interest in a BBQ for anyone in the KS/Mo/Nebraska area.

    Anyone interested?

BBQ? Absolutely... Please let me know the particulars!

Ok... Anyone from KS City have any recommended locations? I know a few, but they are mainly in KS

Well, as a KC "lifer" I can recommend any number of awesome BBQ joints. Of course, at the top of the "Famous BBQ" list is Arthur Bryant's, followed by a number of wannabes. Anybody want to do Bryant's? Or we can meet on the Kansas side for guys like you, Cornkid. Maybe Famous Dave's up by the Kansas Speedway?

Has anyone else actually eaten here? My experience at this particular one was an extreme exception to any other Famous Dave's I've been to. The meat was salty, the service was extremely slow, the rootbeer was hot and very expensive. Other's have reported that it is not this way, but that was my first and only experience at that particular one. There is also an Arthur Bryant's around the corner from Famous Dave's. We could just BBQ inside Nebraska Furniture.....

How about Ponack's on Southwest Boulevard? I make very effort to stay away from any place built in the last ten years...the older BBQ joint, the better. But if you guys want to go to a clone, majority rules.

Bob, Ponack's is cool, but it's not BBQ. I'm good with Mexican. Not sure if Ponack's has a place where we can lay out our lights and stuff. But I agree, I'd rather do Bryant's!

OK, Dad, you're right: Ponack's is the place I named but not the place I meant! There is a great BBQ joint on Southwest Blvd, but the name escapes me. I can drive there by nostril power alone, though...

    You're thinking of Rosedale's. That's a GREAT one!

Sounds cool.. I dont really know where these places are, but I would like to try them.

Also, how about Sunday (in the next few weeks)? I am leaving to camping on the 17th-21st of July, and I am going to UVa on the 15th of Aug.

So, preferably in the next few weeks.

I'm in for a KC area BBQ. I'm even game if we want to get a shelter at a park and BBQ it up ourselves.

    Sounds like a flashlight-demonstration opportunity!

OK guys, time is running out... Anytime after the 21st of July, would be good with me.

We can choose a place to meet.
