Here is the schedule we plan to use to deliver our Mag-LED lights: 2, 3 & 4 cell D Maglites in Black will be available in May or June LED upgrade kits for the D cells will be available in June or July 2 and 3 cell AA Mag-LEDs will be available in July or August No upgrade kits will be produced for the AA and AAA lights. The new products will be found in most Hardware and discount stores.
So you have the final version of the drop-in LED and think it's a good option compared to the other LED replacements available?Lit Up said:I'd just wait until Mag's drop-in replacement LED for incans becomes more available.
I beat a 6D stock incan last night with my 2D LED version.
His batteries had maybe around 2 hours usage whereas mine has over 12 hours on them so far.
I saw this e-mail from an actual person from Mag instead of an automated response. Here's what the schedule looks like:

The Mag LED upgrade outputs good light for the first 30sec-1min, but then, because of a lack of heat sinking in the MAG LED assembly, the output drops off dramatically... like 50% plus.
Furthermore, the heat build-up is bad for the LED and will shorten the life of the LED substantially.
Bottom line: pass on Mag's LED. It's poorly designed.
