PT Eos Lottery Winners from REI sale!

I picked up my two PT Eos headlamps from REI tonight. I pulled them apart when I got home and one is a RWOH and the other is RWAH. I don't mind the cooler WA and the WO, while a little warmer (ever so slightly green) than the WO in my KL3, is still very acceptable. I was shocked that they both had R bins in them. Maybe PT is a little more conscientious about LED selection than I thought they would be. Probably won't try to put an S bin in them after all.

Overall I'm quite happy with them. Can't complain for 15 bucks.

I ordered one for my mom and when it showed up I compared it to my personal one that has an RX0H in it. The tint is warmer with a light touch of pink when compared to the X0. The new one is about 10% dimmer than my old one, but that isn't a big deal.

I wont be taking it apart unles she decides it isn't bright enough or wants more flood.

Total cost was $21.12 delivered to my door and it showed up in about a week.

Mine was a PX0H. So I threw a SX0H in it. very nice now.

Some manufacturers control only what color you get (e.g. white, green, red...), but in the case of white, there are various tints perceived by the human eye (and this is rather subjective) based on the bin. Here's a good place to start:

i think mine's a YA or a WA or something... at least the one i just got from REI

PT does a good job with their bin selection... not so much with petzl

I was worried all the REI outlet models would be the Lux lottery losers. But I got a RWOH. About as good as it gets from a mass produced light.

take a butter knife and wedge it in the bottom as you pulll out on the inner housing... you'll 'snap' both pins and you can pull it out... you can change out the optic for a 17mm IMS reflector at that time too

Easy, you void the warrenty by breaking it open

I wouldn't do it unless I was pretty sure I was going to replace something. In this case I'm putting in a reflector. The LED is good enough to keep, but if it had a P or Q bin I would have replaced it.

Have you seen the website night-gear.com? They have the EOS in several colours etc. on sale. In fact I received my EOS bike light from them today - yes, they ship internationally (I'm in UK). Very pleased , both with the service (shipped by GPM on Friday & arrived Tuesday, friendly customer service) and with the light - a massive improvement over what I've been using recently.
