Default Nite Ize C/D Cell L.E.D. Upgrade

Anyone know if this upgrade works in all PR bulb lights, or does it only work for Mags? The description on the Nite Ize site says it's for Mags, but doesn't say if it will work in other PR lights.

It is standard PR, and should work in any PR based light. Before getting them, I'd urge you to do a search of comments here. They do have their pecularities that you may find important.

    Thanks a lot Empath.

Searched the CPF threads, which led me to a review over on Flashlight Reviews. I'd forgotten that FR also has reviews of drop in LED replacement bulbs.

I'm looking for a LED replacement to drop into a Rayovac tilt-head 2D worklight to provide loooooong runtime for blackouts. The Nite Ize looks nearly perfect for that.

The Rayovac host looks nearly perfect for blackouts also: designed to tailstand and the head swivels up and down 90 degrees or more. And, they're on sale at Lowes.

    Thanks again.

The Nite-Ize PR upgrade does work in any PR-base light, but the emitter is a little lower than the filament on an incandescent bulb. On most fixed-focus lights, you will be stuck in the flood setting, which isn't very impressive.

For a 2 cell work light I much prefer the SMJLED PR2 drop in bulb to the nite-ize mag LED replacement bulb. The SMJLED is brighter and whiter, with superb battery runtime. The SMJLED is a far superior performer without getting into higher current solutions. Do a search here in the forums for more input. You can buy these here in the "Sell" forum for around $6. I just received 6 more of these beauties from "TrueBlue". Super fast shipping!

I found the NiteIze MagLED bulb to be dim with a bluish tint. I use this bulb in my Dorcy 4 cell dome lanterns/flashlights. I used this on a recent camp outing and was wishing for a few more lumens. I am tempted to re-wire them to 3V so I can use the SMJLED PR2 instead.

    Good luck, TR

    Thanks jnj1033.
    Thanks pizzaman.

I would go with the SMJLED PR2 if it were easily available.

I can get a couple of the Nite Ize with zero effort, just by adding them onto my next order from Campmor.
