Can anyone provide any help with this light, it just didn't work this morning. Used it at bed time last night and that was it. Check/changed batteries and they are ok, cleaned the contacts in the light. I also jumpered around the back part of the case with a piece of wire and still not luck, must be in the sammy or the LED.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Sincerely,
David Brock

Sounds like a good excuse to install a FLuPIC sandwich with a U-bin emitter so you can use RCR2 Li-Ion cells for awesome brightness. Available from goldserve over here: https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/119470

You could try taking the sandwich with the LED and the micropuck boost converter out of the head and checking if applying a 3V or so voltage directly across the leads to the LED will light it. I've never tried that myself, so you might want to wait to see if anyone else has any advice.

Have you used 3.6V Li-Ion cells in your 1.3W?

LITEmania has said that the boost circuit in the JIL-CR2 1.3W model is only designed for 3V input, although I've also seen at least one report of somebody using a Li-Ion RCR2 cell in a JIL-CR2 1.3W UV without a failure (yet).

If you find a source for the parts to build another sammie for the 1.3W, I'd be curious to know where to get them (2 pcb boards of the correct diameter and a "micropuck" boost converter, I believe).

If you get any info on fitting other sandwiches into the JIL 1.3W head, please let me know. I'd like to have the info to add to the big JIL info post: http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showpost.php?p=1397319&postcount=4

A CPF member may have a spare micropuck boost converter from the process of adding a FLuPIC to a 1.3W model (since the conversion removes the micropuck). It looks like you're already trying that route over in the B/S/T forum (good idea): http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=129939

No I haven't used anything other than just 3V CR2's and that is what surprized me is that it failed all ready. I really don't want to go the mod route at this time, just want the light working again.

Any further news? Does the problem appear to be the LED or the micropuck boost converter?

Have you tried contacting Warren (LITEmania) about the failure? The light may still be under warranty. Even if it isn't under warranty, he should be a good source for spare parts.
