If I had $300 lying around that I had to spend on a flashlight, I'd get a SureFire K2 KROMA or a SureFire U2. Both seem to be very good, versatile lights that are medium-sized.
In my situation, I'd take that $300 and save it for the next-gen Arc (Arc5?) or next-gen HDS (U85?), as I'm a pocketlight kind-of-guy.

Go with your gut and get the PD, smart move.
You also cant go wrong with a HDS which i think is on clearance for $135, heck of a deal there! Then you'll still have left over money to buy a PEU bezel ring for it and buy a set of green trits from GregW. You'll have a HDS, with a bezel ring with 3 trits for about $185.
You better hop on it quick those trits are selling out quick!

300 bucks could get you a PD with a Ti bezel, Tritium in the tailcap, and some batteries - AW Protected R-123's 750mAh and a Nano charger. Sweeeet! You've got a guilt-free kick-youknowwhat little light.

Another option to consider ...Icarus' TLV 2.5D Maglite .

LOL, I ordered another HDS U60GT this past sunday, I couldn't pass up that price.So now I have 2 or them, one will become a shelf queen, the other is my EDC!
I really like the U60GT.
How do the beams compare on the PD and U60GT ??
The PD on high is what....42 lumens??

$230-250: Gladius w/ FM34
$90: Pierce M10i
$200-250: Parts for LarryK12
Maybe something like that would be nice.

I heartily recommend the Gladius.
I use it for law enforcement...but it's so flexible...anyone can find a true use for it....
