Hello
Can You tell me model/maker of this Laser ? I just odered by eBay.
Any luck for modding this unit ?
IMO it's bright, but I was thought that claimed 40mW should look brighter..
Oh sorry, I didn't realize that product's box picture of laser line outdoors, was forbidded. I apologize for this.
Try once more time:
I need to know is this unit really more than 5mW ( claimed 40mW ).
If this is low power unit I may use it to some fun for my cats.
If it is more powerful, I need to buy goggels for safety.
I have two times in my life very close to lose my eye sight. So I wanna play safe with this greenie.
it kinda looks like the tin man from Wizard of OZ "if I only had a brain" while he shoots a laser out his head
Hopefully you didnt sent too much like I did, paypay wont help. Mine was illegal sale. they dont care. This is a call mind you I made.
Best go to the reputedable dealers.. I am not going to say anything from here. Read the forums and make your own conclusions. If you want a hig power cheap laser, maybe try waiting 3 yrs. Might be just like LCD TVS
Im laughing because I got burnt and have learnt, lol. You can read my threads.
In allseriousness though, if you want to get your money back you will have to send it with a signature required after doing a item significantly not as described on paypal. Its your decision whether or not its worth the loss of the shipping costs. Ebay is a sham. I have even tryied to report stuff that i had stolen and possible saw there. they dont care.

Body style is similar to the Novophone, but I don't think they sell a chrome model. Also, I think they have a rubber button. Is there any info on the laser or box that would lead to a manufacturer? Link to or ebay auction # might help as well.
This happened to one of my greenies a long time ago. I didn't even turn up the pot. No more green, all that came out was an very slight red, only noticible when shone on a wall a cm or so away. From my experience, I'm pretty confident your diode is fried. One of the crystals most likely burnt out, thus preventing the IR from being turned into green. Don't try to send it to a specialist to get it looked at. It's too much time/effort compared to just buying a reputable unit from a dealer.
The moral of this story is: Don't buy ebay lasers! They're cheap for a reason!
Hm, it's possible the diode was damaged with the increased current. Another thing is the batteries you were using, were they CR123 primary cells or RCR123's? RCR123's wil kill the didoes in these lasers due to the initial voltage of nearly 4V.
If the diode is damaged, it can still be showing up with proper current draw..however most of that energy is probably being wasted as heat. As for why you are seeing red, a damaged diode would explain this, it takes a certain amount of pump energy to meet lasing threshold in the ND:YVO4 crystal. If that requirement is not met, you will not have any green output, only the dull red near-IR.
