I've got a bunch of vintage 2D lights. I want to put 3 C alkalines in each. What's the bright PR based bulb I can use? Should I just use a Magnum Star 3 cell or a White Star 2 cell and overdrive it? Or do you guys think the 8W alkaline version of the ROP bulb will be way to go with 2xCR123s?

How many watts should I expect the White Star bulbs to be pushing?

A KPR118 bulb is rated for 4 watts at 7.2V

If you want something like the Big D 8 watt, you can substitute the Mag-Num Star 6 cell bulb, and you'll be better off (using either) with 3 CR123 batteries.

For a 2D body, you'd be better off using AA NiMH batteries and either the 5 or 6 cell Xenon bulb, with 3AA-D or 6AA-2D battery adapters. The run time will be about double what you would get using CR123s and about 4 times what you would get using RCR123s.
