This runtime plot is for an ARC AAA withan Infra Red LED. This led generated no light that is visble to the eye, but the photocell is quite sensitive to detecting IR. at the end of 16 hours the AAA IR was still emitting infra red radiation.

Equipment used is a photocell and a Radio Shact 22-805 multimeter with a PC interface that is using ScopeView software (V1.08).

The vertical axis is in MA and the horizontal axis is 30 minutes per division.

Be aware that you actual battery mileage may vary from that indicated by this runtime plot.

Interesting. It appears that the IR ARC AAA is direct drive with only a resistor ballast [if any]. That makes sense because the Vf of an IR emitter is low enough to be powered directly by a single alkaline cell.

The steps in the plot occured when I turned the kitchen light off and on!

Definately not direct drive! The emitter is overdriven and identical to the photon LED (in fact, we bought all of our IR emitters from LRI-Photon).
