Besides the mount and tail cap are there any internal differences?
Are the batteries isolated in the M4 like in the M981XM07?
Is the mount on the M981XM07 apart of the body or is it removable?

The M98 isolates the batteries from the lamp assembly. The M4 does not. This is critical when a flashlight is to be mounted on a firearm that is subjected to heavy recoil and/or heavy or abusive use etc. This prevents the batteries from slamming into the lamp assembly from behind.

The Millennium Universal WeaponLight system is modular.

The M981XM07 is seven seperate components:

1) Millennium TurboHead
2) Lamp Assembly (MN60 or MN61)
3) LU20 Lamp Module Housing Body
4) MH90 Millennium Housing
5) M49 Dual Thumbscrew Mount
6) XM TailCap
7) ST07 Plug-In Momentary-On Tape Switch (7" long cable)

The MH90 can accept either the M49 or M50 mounts (or other aftermarket mounts) that secure to the mount supports.
