What is required to build your own driver? I know it is a generic question, but what sort of parts and where can you get them?

Basically, i'm not seeing any drivers that will do what i need for my next light and i thought it might be fun to have my hand at some custom soldering :naughty:

Hi there,

What kind of spec's are you looking for ?
Input voltage, output current?

I'm looking at input of 1x18650 or possibly 2xRCR123 and an output of about 4 volts at UP TO 1.5A That is the worst case scenario.

I have a bunch of Ubin K2's i want to drive, but i can't find a driver that is small and will provide over 1A, let alone 1A. The shoppe has been continually out of 750 and 1000ma drivers for a while now.

You klick : NATIONAL (and then "power management", if the link does not work)

insert Your data,
check for an IC that meet Your criteria
(= efficiency, komplexity)
then read the datasheet,
count, think & calculate,
order the IC,
try to geht the important difficult-to-get parts (inductor, kondenser)
carve the board
solder everything together
test
later notice it is too large, emits radio interfering noises, was more expensive (and much larger) than a comparable board
--> from then on buy f.e. Badboys and the suitable resitors for the diff output levels
;)

PS: get blanks, or whatever is there (then solder the resistors out), make a connection to an outside switch, wire 2 resistors AT LEAST.
Totally useless to build a led-light and then have just 1 level
