Been away too long, and in particular, from the LED mod scene.

Now we have the K2s, and I have a cheap source of LuxV's, I'm thinking of putting together a LED light for myself. Gonna be the usual Magmod thing. Four K2s or VX0S. Would like to drive at 1.5 amps each for K2 and 1 amp for LuxVs.

What's the recommended heatsink and driver setup for these nowadays?

well... you'll get a spec 113.6 to 147.7 @ 700ma from the LuxV.. which the K2's can do but at 1500ma... So thats more than twice the current.... So you be the judge... :)

however, there are more factors... such as Vf and lumen maintance over time.... LuxV's have a faster death....

if you are gonna have a good battery(ies) use the k2.

their high working termal working point of 150 degree celcius rocks!

When he wants a hand warmer:grin2:

The K2 will also get heat problems, only at a higher point.
To get the full potential out of the K2, they must be driven much harder than the Luxeon's so there is the same heat problem with lost output, heatsink....

But the main problem is, like jar3ds mentioned, the less efficiency = less output at the same low driving level like the Luxeons.

Best regards
